Education Sally enjoys sharing her archaeological understanding and skills. She regularly presents for local societies and groups speaking on Archaeology, Experimental Archaeology and Ancient Technology and has given papers for conferences both nationally and internationally (Published 2011). She also lectures on the BSc Archaeology Degree at Truro College. Sally is also intensely involved with her local Home School community in Cornwall running several workshops and projects. Introducing students to ‘Iron Age Pottery’ consisted of meeting with the students at the County Museum where they studied, drew and photographed real Iron Age pottery. The next stage of the project was to reproduce their own version of these pots. After the pots had dried they were fired in a bonfire pit and the students were able to ‘excavate’ them several weeks later. This project was initially set up to enable the children to gain a greater understanding of their Iron Age past, with particular reference to Cornwall, and so to encourage a greater ‘Sense of Place’. However it also enabled them to gain a variety of skills associated with Archaeology, Science, Pottery and Art. Sally teaches both the subject and the skills used by archaeologists, with particular emphasis on Experimental Archaeology. |

Interpretation Sally and Colin have worked with the National Trust during National Archaeology fortnight at Dodman Point on the South Coast of Cornwall. Sally helped the visitor understand the prehistoric aspects of this amazing site, whilst Colin interpreted the more recent historic past of the ‘Look out post’. |
