Demonstrations

We present a variety of blank firing demonstrations of both cannons and handguns anywhere in Britain or Europe and can include simply one or many from our selection of forty-plus Cannon. These can be from the aspect of family entertainment, to more formal lectures, and subjects can include the 'History of Artillery’ or 'Handguns through the Ages' with, if the area is deemed safe, a blank firing demonstration of cannon, musket and pistol firing.

We are also able to offer formal lectures, on related subjects such as the 'History of Artillery', 'Handguns through the Ages' or 'Blackpowder' with, if the area is deemed safe, a blank firing demonstration of Musket and Pistol Firing.

At Abbergavenny Castle we provide both an educational experience for local school children during the school week; setting up a living history camp that includes costumed presenters and a vast collection of museum quality artefacts, and at the weekend expanding this to a lively historical presentation for the public as they visit the Castle and its grounds.

We have taken or guns throughout the South and West of England & Wales including Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, the Isle Of Wight, Warwickshire, Kent, Shropshire, Monmouthshire, Glamorgan and Gwent. We work with English Heritage at Pendennis, St Mawes, Restormel, Okehampton, Berry Pomoroy, Totness, Dartmouth, Old Sarum, Portland, Yarmouth, Deal and Kenilworth and have worked at historic sites in both France at Brignogan, for their Son-en-luminaries, and in Germany at Burg Satzvey Castle.

Introducing children to Tudor clothing

Colin enjoys engaging with the visitor, he has an exceptional talent and is never happier than when he is talking about Blackpowder Artillery. If you require a commentary he will introduce each gun, informing the visitor of its historic aspect, giving the appropriate facts regarding powder, shot, etc and also a joke or two about the ‘foibles’ of both Black powder and the life of the gunners, both historically and now.

He has a wealth of knowledge and understanding that he is more than happy to share, both during the main gun show and after, when the visitor is encouraged to take a closer look at his guns. All this we believe enables our show to be truly an interactive experience for your visitor.
