Over the years, Colin and the Star Gun Company have been able to recreate examples of the devastation that his guns were initially invented to carry out.  He is fully licensed to not only use Blackpowder but also to fire ‘Live’, using cannon balls or shot, in order that very real results, rather than just effects, can be achieved.  

We have built mock-ups of the sides of timber ships to demonstrate the devastation caused by flying splinters during the battle of Trafalgar.  We have used a variety of shot against animal carcasses to simulate the terrible  effects of cannon and gun shot on people, and we have even bounced cannon balls across water in the same way that Henry the VIII’s Tudor gunners did.  It was this that inspired Barnes Wallis of Dambusters fame.
