With over 40 years combined experience we can provide you with a variety of historical and archaeological expertise, relating to Blackpowder weaponry and Historical Arms & Armour and we have worked on a variety of Television, Film & Documentary productions. We are confident working unprompted or with direction in front of camera as presenters, and are equally experienced and happy working as consultants for stunt coordination.
We can provide a variety of Blackpowder weaponry and are able to recreate the Artillery and Blackpowder reality that you require, along with suitable locations for both blank and live firing of guns. We are able to provide a range of authentic Arms & Armour, Artefacts and tentage for your production or project.

We also offer our home as a ‘location’; there is an outside work area where Colin constructs his guns and he has a working forge. Inside our home is an amazing dining room with a wealth of beams, a long dining table and a balcony. All of which has been transformed into a medieval ale house, a working kitchen with a snug fire.  At one time or another all have appeared in productions.

We are also able to recommend a variety of costumed historical interpreters or ‘extras’ for your project. Many of the people that we work with have over 20 years experience of cold arms, stage fighting and working with Blackpowder.  Along with this experience, they provide the highest standard of professionalism and dedication for your project. We are also able to provide ‘Living History Encampments’ ranging in date from the 4th to the 19th Century, with a variety of period tentage, cooking equipment, arms and Armour for your production.

Television, Film, & Documentary Productions

Over the years, "The Star Gun Company" has been able to recreate examples of the devastation that these period guns were initially invented to do. We are fully licensed to not only use Blackpowder but to also fire live rounds, using shot or cannon balls, in order that very real results, rather than just effects, can be achieved.

We have built mock-ups of timber ships to demonstrate the devastation caused by the flying splinters during the battle of Trafalgar.  We have used a variety of shot against animal carcasses to simulate the terrible effect of cannon and gun shot on people, and we have bounced cannon balls across water in the same way that Henry the Eighth's Tudor gunners did; it was this that inspired Barnes Wallis of Dambusters fame.

Whatever your project, we are able to recreate the Artillery and Blackpowder reality that you require.
