Colin was born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent and it was in this town, so full of history that it all began. As a child, he would walk to the Pantiles to drink the famous water and on day trips, drag his father across fields to look at bumps in the ground.
In his teens he would have to explore every walkway and stair well of any castle that he could persuade his parents to visit. He has never grown out of this enthusiasm to explore and it is this
enthusiasm which continues to fuel his passion for Blackpowder Artillery and all things Historic.
Now living in Cornwall, Colin is one of the few lucky people to have a licence that enables him to fire and preside
over the Live Firing of Blackpowder guns, giving him the opportunity to recreate amazing action for documentaries and television.
Since 1988, Colin has recreated various experiments using a variety of shot.
He has recreated the action of bouncing or skipping cannon balls across water, and the effect of shot against ships walls, sails and masts, together with demonstrating the dramatic consequence of shot against combatants.
Over the years, he has practiced his art of gunnery, gathering an immense bank of knowledge and gaining a rare insight into the workings of Blackpowder Artillery. Colin is never happier than when he is introducing and explaining his passion, which he combines with a vast appreciation and understanding of our historic past.

Sally is proud of her West Country
heritage. Born in Bristol, she moved with her family to a farm on Exmoor, and still prefers the outdoor life.
Like many, her interest in archaeology was originally sparked by a well-known television program, but quickly expanded to encompass history when she met and married Colin.
Although, Sally believes it takes a lot to beat the gunpowder aspect of her life, she also has a fascination for all things Prehistoric. Having studied Archaeology
with Plymouth University, at Truro College, she went on to gain her Masters in Experimental Archaeology, after which she completed a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education, and is passionate about passing her knowledge on. She is now able to continue with her passion for the
Prehistory and spends her time processing animal hide and perfecting her Flint Knapping.
Sally also constructs historical and archaeological clothing and
artefacts for use in demonstrations, museum displays and as ‘hands on'
artefacts for heritage and educational purposes. She is able to reproduce a garment or artefact by studying
paintings, drawings, photographs or a delicate original.
Sally has also been lucky enough to be entrusted with constructing beautiful individual wedding garments that have an historical focus.
